IT’S TIME TO TALK

World Mental Health Day 2017

Mental health problems affect one in four of us yet people are still afraid to talk about it. For people with mental health problems not being able to talk about it can be one of the worst parts of the illness. So by getting people talking we can break down stereotypes, improve relationships, aid recovery and take the stigma out of something that affects us all.

The theme of this year’s event is mental health in the workplace but whether you’re an individual looking to boost your own wellbeing or an employer seeking advice on supporting your staff, help is available. Contact the Mental Health team at Mount View Practice on 01253 951999.

You can also find a list of helplines and support at http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/stress-anxiety-depression/Pages/mental-health-helplines.aspx

To mark World Mental Health Day there are activities in and around Fleetwood on Tuesday and throughout the week. Staff from the Mount View practice and volunteers will be out and about in the Town raising a smile with some impromptu singing performances while support agencies and groups are meeting at the Mountcroft Resource Centre. Some local employers are holding their own events later in the week such as the NHS Business Services team at Hesketh House who are holding a Tea & Talk session for staff on Friday 13th!
