Hello, please see below a summary of our latest news and what’s coming up for Healthier Fleetwood.
Our next open meeting is on Tuesday 7th November at the Sea Cadet base, Princes Way, Fleetwood and please note the earlier start time, 2pm. The meeting is for everyone – residents, local groups, organisations and businesses. We’ll update you on projects and plans for the months ahead but we always allow plenty of time for people to speak about their experiences and stories, what’s making a positive difference to their lives. Please come along if you can, bring a friend or colleague and get involved.
We will have one more meeting before the end of the year and it will be a special event not to be missed. Make a note in your diary for Tuesday 19th December from 1.30pm at Marine Hall when we’ll join the venue’s Harmony & Health singing group for some festive refreshments and good company. More details will be announced nearer the time.
Huge congratulations to Alfie Hall from Shakespeare School who was named the Fleetwood Young Chef of the Year during a celebration lunch at Fleetwood Town FC. Alfie and all the finalists were amazing as they produced three course meals on a budget of £10 as part of a challenge that involved all 7 of the Town’s primary schools. > READ MORE
In the next few weeks we’ll be promoting the successful projects who have received funding from Healthier Fleetwood to get their ideas started. These include a course for people about to retire or coming to terms with retirement and a new table tennis group at the YMCA. We have more funding available and at the meeting on the 7th November will be announcing the next phase. > READ MORE
A reminder that we are always at Fleetwood Library on a Wednesday morning, 10am to 12 noon so if you want to pop in and say hello please do and let friends, neighbours and colleagues know. We can point residents in the direction of what’s happening in the Town to support their health & wellbeing. Partners are welcome to join us and next week, 8th November, some of the team from Fleetwood YMCA will be there to offer health checks such as height, weight, BMI and blood pressure and also any advice around healthy eating and exercise. > READ MORE
