Mental Health Appointments Notice

Dear patient

As you are aware your appointment to see one of the Mental Health Practitioners was cancelled recently. We are experiencing, unusual but significant staffing problems, due to sickness and a full time vacancy and at present we are unable to see any new patients until this is resolved.

We appreciate that you may still need help with your mental health problems and are therefore writing to offer you some advice on other things that may be helpful. We recommend the following services-

Wellbeing-glasgow.org.uk- offers a variety of self-help materials and information for common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression.

Livinglifetothefull.com- free online courses covering low mood, stress and resiliency amongst other things.

Fear fighter- online course to help with anxiety and phobias.

Headspace app-meditation made simple to help people feel less stress, focus more and sleep better.

The CRISIS team– is an NHS based team that can offer support if you are having a mental health crisis in the community. It is available for you to contact when the surgery is closed and at the weekend if you feel in this situation. It is a 24 hour service. 01253 956280.

SAMARITANS– You can call the Samaritans for free from any phone-116 123 or send an email to jo@samaritans.org (24 hr response).

MINDS MATTERS – self referral for psychological interventions such as self-help materials, groups, workshops and 1:1 therapy by telephoning 01253 955943 (there is an approx. 20 week wait for some of these services) or www.lancashirecare.nhs.uk/Mindsmatter for online referral form.

If you feel suicidal and unable to keep yourself safe you can also go to A and E at the hospital where you can see the Mental Health Liaison Team.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience or problems this may have caused you. We do hope to contact everyone who is waiting when the team is fully operational again to see if people still require any help. In the meantime if you feel you need to see the Doctor again please contact the surgery to arrange.

Many thanks

Mountview Mental Health Team.
